Coloured glass or clear, Art Deco or contemporary – hanging glass pendant lamps bring class and elegance to a room’s lighting design. Here’s our buyer’s guide to designer glass pendant lights…
Pendants aren’t just for hanging in the hallway (although that’s a very good use of them, of course). They’re also perfect over a dining table, casting that lovely intimate low-level light that makes a special occasion special. Or indeed suspended in any space where a floor lamp won’t fit and there’s nowhere to put a table lamp. We do pendant lights in all sorts of materials from brass to ceramics, but there’s definitely something special about glass pendants, not least for the range of colour effects you can achieve with blown glass. Here are a few from our collection...
Bonnie and Dahlia
Larger Bonnie in turquoise - shop here
As a blown glass pendant, Bonnie does it all. We were thrilled with how it came out – it’s right in that lovely sweet spot: sophisticated but with an authentic, handmade feel. Or as one of our customers put it: “We wanted something that would hang over our dining table and look gorgeous. The glass manages to be modern and antique-y at the same time - just the note we were hoping to strike!” Smaller Bonnie in olive - shop here
Dahlia meanwhile is a straighter-shaped glass pendant. These mouth-blown, hand-finished glass shades are sleek, fizzing with thousands of tiny bubbles and available in clear glass and in a range of gentle tints, like this amber... Dahlia in amber - shop here
Connie – for a striking statement

We think Connie would be a stunning centrepiece in a room, or real wow in an entrance hallway. Connie is a meticulous glass-and-brass creation with a striking design. The diameter is 39cm so, it’s a large, unmissable statement of a pendant light.
Aquila – art deco stunner
Aquila pendant light - shop here
Another striking statement pendant, the Aquila has been described as a teardrop, an inverted rose or even a Mongolian street light. Whatever you want to call it, it’s an Art Deco beauty. It comes in two sizes (25cm and 30cm) and would look simply glorious in a dining room (or anywhere really).
Priscilla – for some effortless elegance
Priscilla is one of the great simple shapes - perfectly cylindrical at the top, and then tapering gently away. Note the brass hanging ring at the top - each little detail combines to make this an elegant classic.
Lisboa in violet – dark and beautiful
The Lisboa is hand blown glass made in the north of Portugal, close to the big Atlantic rollers. The shape is soft and subtle with slightly slanted waves in the glass. This is the darkly beautiful violet colour - it also comes in clear and amber and smoked glass, and in two sizes.
Qilin – for casting dappled light in all directions
Qilin pendant light (larger) - shop here
Another design in the Art Deco mode, the prismatic effect of the Qilin casts a beautiful dappled light. There are two sizes (18cm and 27cm), but either way, we recommend you go for a for a classy filament bulb to complete the look.
