Inverted crescents of marble set in a brass base. Really eye-catching and very smart.

We spend hours messing around with lampshades, trying all sorts of new and wondrous materials to see how they transmit the light. And in our opinion, there isn't much that beats a humble rattan lampshade for casting a beguiling glow. The light pools warmly beneath but it also sneaks out gently through the little gaps in the weave. Beautiful it is, we thinks. N.B these shades are now supplied with a reversible gimble so they can be used as a pendant shade as well.
