One of our great discoveries at Pooky was resin, and how fabulous it is for making table lamps. Here are some of the wonderful (and occasionally weird) lamp shapes and colours we’ve created with that marvellous material…
Resin has three tremendous qualities when it comes to making table lamps.
First, it’s solid. Weighty. When you pick up a resin lamp it feels pleasingly chunky, and you can plonk it down on your table with a satisfying thud.
Second, it’s malleable in the manufacturing process, meaning we can shape it how we like and our designers can let their imaginations run riot. The results range from the elegantly simple to the overtly flamboyant (as you will soon see).
And third, there’s plenty of scope for vibrant colour tones - from soft blush pinks to deep blues, from rich greens to vibrant ambers which gleam gloriously under a lit bulb. Here’s a little selection from our resin table lamp range…
Classic resin table lamps
You can’t get much more classical than an urn – and with its distinctive narrow neck, rounded body and footed pedestal, the classic urn shape naturally lends itself to making beautiful table lamps. Our Urnie resin table lamp is perfect for placing by the bedside, on a mantelpiece or in a cosy alcove for a classic, timeless look.
Meanwhile, the Longford table lamp combines a sleek, classical style with a contemporary twist. The ornate classical brass column makes a real statement set against the olive green of the polished resin stem.
Contemporary resin table lamps
With its column of four beautiful balls of resin set one on top of the other, the Aurora is a beautiful and distinctive table lamp with a contemporary feel. Eye-catching, but with a certain elegance, the Aurora is a lovely all-rounder, which is available in a range of different colours and which looks beautiful just about anywhere.
Quirky resin table lamps
One of the great things about resin is you can use it to make all manner of different designs, from beautifully stylised creations to downright quirky inventions. Cue the Lucy table lamp, with its fabulously flamboyant sculpted green resin leaves. The Lucy really is a stand out, best-in-show kind of table lamp.
Meanwhile, our rather sensational Whinny table lamp is modelled on the stylised horse head motifs from ancient Mesopotamia. The translucent amber resin looks just fabulous when lit, or when placed in natural light near a window.
