No doubt about it, a hefty metal pendant light hanging in a smart interior makes a statement. Bold, very now, very cool, very industrial. But that doesn’t mean your house has to look like an old factory. You can use a pendant light for a kitchen table, a smart sitting room or make a grand entrance to your hallway. In fact, in any space where a floor lamp won’t fit and there’s nowhere handy to place a table lamp. It’s just a question of choosing the right one. Timothy – the smart end of industrial

It would be a very smart factory indeed that housed the Timothy. Yes, it carries more than a hint of the industrial, but the stylish brass cap elevates it above the hoi polloi. Make no mistake, this is a substantial pendant, with a base diameter of 45cm, but it looks right at home in a kitchen or even a sitting room.

Stanley and Super Stanley – contemporary cones

At the smaller end of the size scale is the Stanley, a dainty 19cm in diameter, and available in six different colours. Stanley is perfect for hanging in rows, for example over a long table (top interior design tip: hang pendant lights in odd numbered rows – threes and fives are better than twos and fours). Stanley also now has a Super Stanley cousin (top). It's big (35cm diameter) but not too big and seriously contemporary. On the top of the cut off cone there is a thick solid brass plate and the brass interior casts a lovely warm light. Available in gunmetal or white.
Saturn – nicely rounded
A nice combination of straight and round lines, the Saturn in antiqued brass has an industrial look but is also very smart (perhaps something of the Steampunk about it?). 25cm in diameter and casts a warm and gentle glow.
