Wooden floor lamps – a buyer’s guide

From natural whitewash to antiqued gold, here’s where to find the right wooden floor lamp for your room…

A stylish room needs a stylish floor lamp. It provides the light and ambience, but is also a prominent feature of the décor, helping to set the tone and feel of the room. Wood is a wonderful material for conveying certain feelings... Naturalness, authenticity, craftsmanship and, well, woodiness. We love it for lights, and have made all sorts of wooden table lamps - but here’s a buyer’s guide to our wooden floor lamps, along with some tips to inspire you…

Moonshine – a classic turned-wood design

The Moonshine is a ‘classic’ turned wooden floor lamp: beautiful as an antique chessman (take a look at the base. It’s tall and imposing at 135cm, and when pairing it with a designer lampshade how about something vintage-y to go with the slightly shabby-chic natural whitewash, like a gathered cotton shade with a pattern?

Solomon - big, bold and gold

That twisted, helical shape is known as a ‘solomonic’ column. (It’s also known as a ‘barley sugar’ column, but we preferred Solomon as a name). We love this light: 134cm of carved wood finished in antiqued gold. It’s mighty and magnificent, especially when topped with a bold lampshade. - Unfortunately the Solomon is no longer available, but please take a look at our extensive range of floor lamps here.

Eclipse - tall and elegant

Very tall at 135cm, the Eclipse is blessed with fine turnings all the way from the top to bottom, ending in a perfectly elegant round base. Finished in distressed white, it’s gorgeous with an Ikat shade or something plan - with almost any shade, really.
